The Canalway Trail, which runs parallel to the New York State Canal System, is comprised of hundreds of miles of scenic trails and numerous parks for walking and bicycling.
Yesterday, starting at the Herkimer Home State Historic Site, two friends and I walked approximately three miles along the Canalway Trail in the Town of Danube to the aqueduct at Castle Creek. The year, “1905” was etched into the quarried limestone pier beneath its wooden bridge.
We turned around and followed the same route back to our starting point, stopping along the way to admire and photograph the trail’s flora and fauna.
After our six mile walk, we rewarded ourselves with a delicious late lunch at Kevin’s Bistro, a charming small restaurant in nearby Frankfort, New York.
It was a delightful and memorable day!

Now that the weather is nicer, my friend and I have been walking more. This afternoon we took a short stroll in a neighboring town, and we both fell in love with this adorable house.
That’s a cute little dog on the front porch, but the “lady” with the hat has seen better days! 😀

This “selfie” was taken last fall during an outing with two friends. It was a day of food, fun, and friendship!
In the United States, Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in August. This year, it falls on August 6, 2017. Don’t forget to mark your calendar!

Respectful of their culture, I shot from behind to keep the face of this Amish farmer hidden.
This image was taken about two months ago and hopefully, the last winter scene I post until next year. Tomorrow is Easter Sunday; the snow is gone and our grass is finally green!
Happy Easter!

A friend and I went to the Koko Head Botanical Garden last week. There was a section with a large variety of cactus which were very interesting. I spent some time today working to make some of my images bw and I took a chance with this one. I like it. These are called Golden Barrel Cactus.

Just three weeks ago, we had a blizzard that dumped two feet of snow. It was the largest snowfall since February of 2007!
One week ago, we woke up to an additional two inches of snow. Now, after almost a week of rain, the white stuff is finally gone. YAY!
It’s hard to believe that sunshine and temperatures in the 70’s are predicted for Monday and Tuesday. This weather is crazy!

A friend and I visited the Koko Head Botanical Garden this week. When we first got there I wasn’t too impressed. It was not like any other Botanical Garden I’ve seen. A lot of dirt, not much grass, everything looked dry and dusty. But after looking around a little I began to see possibilities for photos. There were a lot of Hibiscus trees that were blooming for which I was thankful. They are really beautiful flowers.
I loved this one. Many of the flowers were open and there were many shoots preparing to open and it was nice that I could shoot up at it.
Yay, this is the last of the 52 week challenge. It’s been pretty easy since it was just one image a week with no assignments but I’m glad the commitment is done nonetheless. On to the next challenge, whatever that will be.

While wandering around China Town in San Francisco last week, we came up this shop with these colorful wigs in the window display. I took the image from outside through the glass window so that’s why there a little bit of reflection. I love the colors, but, really, I’ll stick with traditional hair colors, thank you very much.
